What is a Tanzania e-Visa?

A Tanzania e-Visa is an electronic visa that allows entry into Tanzania, including both the mainland and Zanzibar. It has replaced the traditional stamped visa process.

Who Needs a Tanzania e-Visa?

As of November 18, 2019, U.S. citizens require an e-Visa for travel to Tanzania for any purpose, including tourism, business, family visits, holidays, study, diplomatic missions, official travel, conferences, NGO work, missionary/religious travel.

Approved Entry Points

The e-Visa allows entry through most major air, land, and sea ports in Tanzania, including:

– Kilimanjaro International Airport
– Julius Nyerere International Airport
– Mwanza International Airport

Land Borders
– Namanga
– Tunduma

Seaports
– Most major seaports

Obtaining the Visa
Travelers must apply for the Tanzania e-Visa online before traveling. The actual visa stamp will be received upon arrival at immigration in Tanzania.

Business Visa Requirements

Single Entry
For a single entry business visa, additional documents are required:

– For company/institution/NGO meetings: Host’s passport/ID or resident permit
– For humanitarian/charity activities: Inviting NGO’s registration certificate
– For volunteer activities: Inviting organization’s registration certificate

Multiple Entry
For a multiple entry business visa, documents from the inviting company are needed:

– Letter of invitation on company letterhead
– Certificate of Incorporation
– Business License
– Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
– Consultancy Contract

Tanzania e-Visa Requirements

To apply for a Tanzania e-Visa, you need to meet the following requirements:

Documents Required
– A copy of your passport that is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Tanzania
– Your passport must have at least one blank visa page
– A copy of your return or onward airline ticket
